Printing My First Photo Book
I love to photograph.
The only way I can explain my love of photography is that it places me in the zone where I feel myself fully present to what I’m photographing. For me it is an act of mindfulness. It also reminds me that that world around me is astonishing and that it’s possible to see it in a million different ways depending on how we look at it.
Recently, having more time on my hands, I decided to create a photo book from the archive of images I took in Olšany. As I went through the images, looking for those that captured the feeling and mood of the story I wanted to tell of the cemetery, I realised that the work I was doing now was an important progression to the work I was doing then.
By curating my photos into a series, I’m creating a visual narrative that reflects my unique perspective. This invites viewers to reconsider the places and people I’ve captured and see them in a new light. I had never really thought about the storytelling aspect of photography. I just took photographs of things that moved me.
I am really happy with the way the book turned out, as both the quality and the reproduction of the images surpassed my expectations. I’m now looking forward to creating my next photo book. 🙂
